Jaffna is a city on the northern tip of Sri Lanka. By the coast, star-shaped Jaffna Fort was built by the Portuguese in the 17th century and later occupied by the Dutch and British. Jaffna Public Library is a symbol of the city\u2019s post-war regeneration. Jaffna Archaeological Museum has Dutch cannons and pre-colonial artifacts.

During the drive from the train station to our guesthouse I\u00a0was shocked to see how touristy such a small town can get. The caf\u00e9s and restaurants are \u201cwesternised\u201d and there are countless guesthouses and B&Bs.<\/p>

      It is that touristy for a reason. It is located in the middle of the beautiful Hill Country of Sri Lanka and offers perfect hiking trails.<\/p>
